Types Of Ceremonies

Choose a ceremony

Right For You

When it comes to creating your own, unique, wedding ceremony there are many decisions to be made: where to hold your ceremony, the size of the bridal party, how many guests to invite, the rituals and traditions to include, the words you will say to each other, people to include in the ceremony, the level of formality…

...the list can seem endless!

What follows will give you a small taste of the many different types of wedding ceremonies you can choose from. Be assured, that with my comprehensive knowledge and experience of wedding ceremonies, whatever  the rituals, traditions or customs you wish to incorporate, and where ever you prefer to hold your ceremony, I can guarantee you a unique ceremony designed to respect your beliefs, reflect your values and touch the hearts and minds of everyone present.

Backyard Weddings

A backyard wedding can be the ideal setting for a casual wedding. It can also be the perfect place for an elegant and sophisticated affair. It all comes down to whether the backyard in question is a match for the vision you have for your ceremony. For the couple planning a simple no-fuss wedding the backyard or deck can offer the ideal solution.

Beach Weddings

Scottish Wedding In Perth WA

Beach weddings are growing in popularity and it is no surprise why. Beach wedding ceremonies are romantic, fun and exciting and they have the ability to cater for everything from the very casual to the extremely elegant affair.

There are many reasons for having a beach wedding, the best of which is, perhaps, the atmosphere that the sound of the waves and the soft natural light that a late morning or early evening sun can create. It is an atmosphere that says, ‘At this moment in time there is nothing more important in the whole world than the commitment this couple is making to each other’.

If you are considering  one of Perth’s many beautiful public beaches for your wedding ceremony, be mindful that you will need to obtain a permit from the relevant Council and that the best Wedding Locations in Perth can be booked out up to 12 months in advance!

Chapel Weddings

If your vision for your wedding is a traditional ceremony but have no desire to be married in a church, you might consider holding your wedding ceremony in a secular chapel. Chapels can either be  purpose-built or small deconsecrated churches with traditional architecture, wooden pews, a central aisle and an altar.

A chapel wedding will normally include a formal processional and recessional and, being an indoor venue, a chapel wedding affords opportunities to include elements such as the Unity Candle ritual. A wedding chapel is also highly appropriate for a military wedding or if it is you wish to include any religious content within your ceremony.

Garden Weddings

If you are looking for a wedding venue that offers greater flexibility in size of the guest list or bridal party that most other venues, then you might consider holding your ceremony in a park or garden.

Perth is blessed with a multitude of beautiful of parks and gardens, both municipal and private; wonderful views, heritage pavilions, rotundas or shaded grassy areas making them particularly suitable for wedding ceremonies.

Garden Wedding Ceremony

It is advisable to visit any potential venue personally before booking to gauge its suitability and understand any restrictions that may apply with regard to the use of items such as furniture, decorations and confetti.

Surprise Weddings

Surprise weddings are popular for many reasons; for some couples it is a way to minimise the stress that comes with organising a wedding, for others it may be a way to keep the costs down, while some people just like to stage a big surprise.

Generally a surprise wedding is held in conjunction with another celebration or family gathering. While it is fine to surprise your guests, it is not legally possible to surprise either the bride or the groom. The Australian Marriage Act requires the bride and groom to lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage with a celebrant at least a month and a day before the date of the wedding.

Themed Weddings

A themed wedding is a wonderful way to add a real touch of flair, fun, originality and excitement to your special day.

It is also a great way to get your guests actively involved in your ceremony as well.

You can draw on any number of influences for your wedding theme. You might, for instance, draw inspiration from a particular period in history.

For a 1950s theme a bride might arrive in a pink Cadillac dressed for the occasion in a period gown, set off beautifully by a birdcage veil.

Your cultural heritage might suggest your theme; a Scottish theme, for instance, might involve Scottish poetry, blessings, and other readings, men dressed in kilts and of course a piper.

Your choices are endless; personal interests, favourite movies, a storybook fantasy, anything you feel will make your day special and unique to you as a new couple.

Urgent Weddings

Where circumstances dictate and you have a genuine need to marry very quickly, perhaps through ill-health or military deployment for example, it is possible to obtain special permission to get married with less than the mandatory legal notice. In these circumstances I am happy to help you obtain the necessary permission and create a simple but sensitive ceremony that can can be conducted in a hospital, at home, or any other venue of your choice.
